What made us smile. Week of 03.25.12

Kyreen
  • Weezy's Engagement Party- I got to spend time with my bestie. Being a part of this one event made me feel special to be sharing the experience with her. Plus it felt good being recognized for all the work we put into helping prepare and run her engagement party.
  • Work - As much as I hate to take on additional responsibilities at work, I appreciate the fact that I'm recognized by my peers as a good mentor.
  • Dinner on the table - I love how hubby and I both take turns making dinner for one another. On Wednesday, I loved how hubby had dinner already made for me even though I was very grumpy waking up that night. And I'm sure he appreciated the dinner I made last night for him as well. Always nice to come home to a home cooked meal.

  • Seeing friends enjoy and endure the pleasures and stresses of pre-wedding celebrations.
  • Wendy's fish sandwich- 100x better than a Filet O'Fish from McDonald's.
  • Nordstrom Rack- Finding Ralph Lauren Made in USA loafers and Wolverine 1000 Mile boots at Nordstrom Rack for pennies on the dollar. I call this epic winning 2nd only to whoever gets that $630mil Mega Millions pot.
  • The stylings of Arnie's little nephew and niece. Best dressed kids I ever did saw. Yup.

Foodie Adventures a la Seattle

There’s nothing like eating local foods in order to get a real taste of a city. The flavor of life in that town is directly integrated into the foods that they serve. Seattle is one of our favorite places to visit whenever we are up in Washington. Seattle is known for their seafood and is a melting pot of many different ethnicities that all form the menu of this great city. We took a day trip to Seattle in search of great food, ie. to stuff ourselves silly with delicious food.

A Snowy Surprise

After an awkward night consisting of a college jazz concert and dance class, we had a very unusual and pleasant treat. At midnight of my mom's birthday, frozen bits of sky began to fall to the earth. Prior to this, Kyreen had never experienced snowfall. It was truly something special.

Our Home Away From Home

03.04.12
On March 4th, we traveled to Silverdale, WA to visit my family and celebrate my mom's birthday. Kyreen and I love Washington. I lived there for 3 years during my more youthful days and my parents decided to retire there. It's truly my home away from home.

Travelling there went about as normal as you could expect, thankfully. I don't mind flying one bit but I absolutely hate airports. Napoleon, on the other hand, probably hates flying more than the hustle and bustle that takes place prior. The poor guy was very uncomfortable and stressed during the whole ordeal having to ride with the cargo. On the way to Silverdale after landing in Seatac, he was very affectionate, very tired, and very thirsty. He drank half a bottle of water from my cupped hands because we had forgotten to take his bowl out of the luggage. What a hectic day for the poor guy.

We got to the house and had a very early dinner. Lex was really excited to see the dog and they hit it off right away. We laughed and giggled watching Lex and Napz play together. They are adorable together and I am both happy and relieved that they get along so well.

We ended up taking a nap in the afternoon. Napz and I slept for 2 hours while Kyreen stayed in bed for the rest of the day/night. She had worked the night before and hadn't slept in over 24 hours. What a trooper.
